Return to Retirement

It's been a long 18 months - having 'retired', I found myself recalled back in work. Had forgotten how tiring and time consuming it is.. The long hours chew up all chance of relaxing - and how the toll of long hours on the computer planning have on finding space for rest and recouperation. Enough of that - I am back and in role as 'Retire a Gran' again! One positive point is that I am now back in the garden. After 18 months of neglect it is now looking 'kept' again. Gardens are funny things, why do we put ourselves through the angst of preparing, digging and stocking flower-beds when we know how much more work we are creating? All that weeding - and where did the giant brown slugs come from? As fast as the seedlings go in - they disappear! We have local ASBO slugs! As soon as your back is turned a slurp of slugs slide into the neighbourhood and decimate all potential flowers and devour all veggie seedlings.
At least they don't climb trees! The plum and apple trees are heavily laden this year. It looks like a bumper crop for my famous plum and cinnamon jam.
