Gardening?

Is there such a thing as 'enjoying gardening'? I must admit I am not convinced. Perhaps more 'slave-to-the-weeds-ing'? That sounds more appropriate. Those wretched things pop up everywhere you don't need them, take all your time having to weed them out - then within hours seem to have not only returned - but bought along a crowd of new 'friends'. Sounds a bit like party-crashers! I am currently doing battle with a despicable red stemmed weed. It has the tenacity of a blue-bottle. As fast as I remove it I find another red-stemmed invader popping up somewhere else.
This week I think I have tamed the 'beast' - at least for the time being. I have put in my baby vegetable plants - and remembered to water them in! I am hoping for a decent return from my peas and tomato plants.
I must admit I love growing flowers and herbs. Flowers are the 'garden peacocks' - showy, colourful and eye-catching. At least with flowers they are not expected to produce anything other than colour and scent. I also enjoy a spot of flower arranging, so they certainly come in useful.
Uh-oh - another heatwave - there goes my flowers!

I liked how the post talked about gardening in a simple and calm way and it made me want to get outside and care for my plants like it describes. Last term when I had a lot of classes, associate level course help was something I used so I could finish school work early and still have time to water my garden in the evenings. It reminded me that rhythm and care matter.
